(b) A cottage industry produces a certain number of toys in a day. The cost of production of each toy (in rupees) was found to be 55 minus the number of toys produced in a day. On a particular day, the total cost of production was Rs 750. We would like to find out the number of toys produced on that day.

(b) A cottage industry produces a certain number of toys in a day. The cost of production of each toy (in rupees) was found to be 55 minus the number of toys produced in a day. On a particular day, the total cost of production was Rs 750. We would like to find out the number of toys produced on that day.
(b) Let the number of toys produced on that day =  x
Given that The cost of production of each toy (in rupees) was found to be 55 minus the number of toys produced in a day
Therefore, the cost of production of each toy that day = Rs 55 – x
So that total cost of production that day = Rs x (55 – x)
Given that On a particular day, the total cost of production was Rs 750.
So that  x (55 – x) = 750
    55x – x2 = 750
Subtract 750 both side
    – x2 + 55x – 750 = 0
Change the sign
    x2 – 55x + 750 = 0

So that the number of toys is either 25 or  30.
