Why should curd and sour substances not be kept in brass and copper vessels?

Question 1. Why should curd and sour substances not be kept in brass and copper vessels?
Answer: Curd and sour substances should not be kept in brass and copper as curd and sour substances are acidic in nature and react with the metallic surface of the brass and copper to form some toxic compound which may be unfit for health.

    1. How is it possible sir? Cu is less reactive than hydrogen. Lactic acid is a weak acid.

    2. It is true that curd contains lactic acid which is a weak acid ,but i think, if u store curd in copper/brass vessels for a long time, then it will produce toxic substances ,i dont think there is an immediate reaction taking place.

  2. 'Unfit for health' is grammatically incorrect. You might use the phrase 'unfit for human use' or 'unsuitable for human use'.
By the way, you have a great website :)

  5. What compound(s) will be formed when Curd (Acidic substance) reacts with Copper?

  6. I disagree....As cu is less reactive than hydrogen.... it cannot displace hydrogen from lactic acid...

  7. Curd and other so substances contains acid therefore when they are kept in brass and copper vessels the metal reacts with acid to form a metal compounds which can cause food poisoning and damage our health

  8. tottaly disagree how can it displace hydrogen when cu is less reactive

  9. Not a specific answer. Copper is less reactive than hydrogen, how can it displace it? At least don't spread incomplete and misleading language.
