Answer:
 Oxides of metals which have both acidic as well as basic behaviour are known as amphoteric oxides. Such metallic oxides react with acids as well as base to produce salt and water. Examples of Amphoteric oxides are aluminium oxide and zinc oxide.

  6. Metal Oxide are usually basic in nature but some metal oxide such as aluminium oxide and zinc oxide react both with acids as well as bases to produce salt and water. Hence they are called as Amphoteric Oxides.

    Chemical equation:-

    1) Al2O3 + 6HCL ----- 2ALCL3 + H2O
    2) AL2O3 + 2NaOH ----- 2NaAlO2 + H2O

    Question___ what do you mean by Amphoteric oxide. Name two metals which form Amphoteric oxide. Justify your answer with chemical equation for any one metal.
