Calculate the mass percentage of benzene (C6H6) and carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) if 22 g of benzene is dissolved in 122 g of carbon tetrachloride.

Calculate the mass percentage of benzene (C6H6) and carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) if 22 g of benzene is dissolved in 122 g of carbon tetrachloride.
Solution
Given that
Mass of C6H6  =  22 g
Mass of carbon tetra chloride CCl4= 112 g
Use the formula

      = 15.28 %
Use same formula again

     = 84.72 %
We can find the mass percentage of CCl4 by this method also
Mass percentage of CCl4= 100 – mass % of C6H6
= 100 − 15.28
= 84.72%
