Question 1. Find the value of the polynomial 5x – 4x2 + 3 at
(i) x = 0 (ii) x = –1 (iii) x = 2
Solution: (i)x = 0
5x – 4x2 + 3
Plug x = 0 we get
=>5(0) – 4(0)2 + 3
=>0 -0 + 3
=> 3
(ii) x = –1
Plug x = - 1 we get
=>5x – 4x2 + 3
=>5(-1) – 4(-1)2 + 3
=> -5 – 4 +3
=>-6
(iii) x = 2
Plug x = 2 we get
=>5(2) – 4(2)2 + 3
=>10 – 16 + 3
=> -3
(i) x = 0 (ii) x = –1 (iii) x = 2
Solution: (i)x = 0
5x – 4x2 + 3
Plug x = 0 we get
=>5(0) – 4(0)2 + 3
=>0 -0 + 3
=> 3
(ii) x = –1
Plug x = - 1 we get
