suggest the most important type of intermolecular attractive interaction in the following pairs.
(i) n-hexane and n-octane and CCl4
(ii) NaCIO4 and water
(iii)methanol and acetone
(iv) acetonitrile (CH3CN) and acetone (C3H60).

 Solution
 (i)
n-hexane and n-octane and CCl4  both are non polar so that they have Weak vander Waal's intermolecular interaction or London dispersion forces
(ii)
Both n-hexane and n-octane and CCl4 are non polar so that they have Weak vander Waal's intermolecular interaction or London dispersion forces

(iii)
On dissociation NaCIO4 gives Na+ and ClO4- ions in solution and water is a polar solvent so that there are  strong ion-dipole interaction
(iv)
Both are polar molecules hence they have dipole- dipole interaction
(v)
Both are polar molecules hence they have dipole- dipole interaction
