Why are coils of electric toasters and electric irons made of an alloy rather than a pure metal

Question 4:
Why are coils of electric toasters and electric irons made of an alloy rather than a pure metal?
Solution:
Coils of electric toasters and electric irons made of an alloy rather than a pure metal because the resistivity of an alloy is higher than the pure metal. Also at high temperatures, the alloys do not melt easily.

  2. What is the point of having a higher resistivity?
For 2 toasters one made of pure metal and another made up of alloy..both will hava the same potential diff. And hence by the formula of Power=V^2/R..the one made of alloy will produce lower heat...so what is the use of having a toaster or iron which will produce lower heat? It will reduce work efficiency...
