Q 20: Classify
each of the following as being either a p–type
or an n–type semiconductor:
(i) Ge
doped with In (ii) B
doped with Si.
Solution:
(i) Ge is a 14th group element and In is a 13th
group element .When 14th group element is doped with In a 13th
group element, a electron deficit hole created .Hence Ge doped with In will
generate p–type semiconductor.
(ii)B is a 13th group element and Si is a 14th
group element .When 13th group element is doped with In a 14th
group element, created hole will generate n–type semiconductor.
2nd is also p type
ReplyDeleteWhen Si ( 14 element group) is doped with B ( 13 element group), formation of p-type semiconductor takes place.
Deletebut here B is doped in Si so answer will n–type semiconductor. in second part
Can someone answer what type will germanium doped with silicon be?
ReplyDeleteP type semiconductot
DeleteB doped with Si
ReplyDeleteans. is p-type
