Q.2. What makes a glass different from a solid such as quartz? Under what conditions could quartz be converted into glass?
Glass is a super cool liquid .glass is an amorphous solid. Glass has short range order .In below figure we can see that Quartz has long range order while glass does not have long range order.

To convert quartz in to glass melt the quartz and cool it rapidly, quartz will be converted in to glass
