Prepositions in English Grammar in Hindi – वे शब्द या शब्दों के समूह जो किसी संज्ञा या सर्वनाम और वाक्य के दूसरे भाग के बीच के सम्बन्ध को दर्शाते हैं, Prepositions कहलाते हैं। आमतौर पर इन्हें किसी संज्ञा या सर्वनाम से पहले स्थित किया जाता है। एक बात और, जिस संज्ञा या सर्वनाम के साथ Preposition का प्रयोग किया जाता है, वह संज्ञा या सर्वनाम इसका Object कहलाता है।
Preposition is a word that indicates relationship between noun or pronoun and the other words in a sentence. e.g. in, on, at, to, with, under, above, into, by, of, etc. Prepositions are the words or the group of words, which are generally placed before a noun or a pronoun to express its relation with part of the sentence.
Examples:
I am coming from Delhi. (मैं दिल्ली से आ रहा हूँ ।)
यहाँ पर Preposition है – “from”. Noun है – “Delhi”, जो कि “from” का “object” कहलाता है।
यहाँ पर Preposition है – “on”. Pronoun है – “You”, जो कि “on” का “object” कहलाता है।
The noun or pronoun used with the preposition is called its object. Total preposition 61 आपको बताई जायंगी ! पर इस chapter में आठ preposition बतायंगे ! बाकी next chapter मे !
( संज्ञा और सर्वनाम के साथ सम्बन्ध सूचक अव्यय का प्रयोग किया जाता है उसे object कहते है।)Such as: in (मे), on (पर ), into (के अंदर), of (के).

Of = का, के, की
Prashant is brother of Mona. प्रशांत शांतुर का भाई है।
He is a student of Birla School. वह बिरला स्कूल का विधार्थी है।
This is the house of Ram. यह राम का घर है।
Meena is the owner of the house. मीना घर की मालकिन है!
He is the brother of Ram. वो राम का भाई है।
For = के लिए
My heart is beating for you. मेरा दिल तुम्हारे लिए धड़क रहा है।
I have brought a pen for Vijay. मैं विजय के लिए पेंसिल लाया हूँ।
Mona brought a dress for Mena. मोना मीना के लिए ड्रेस लाई !
This dress is for Mena. यह ड्रेस मीना की है !
That book is for Gaurav. यह गौरव की बुक है !
About = बारे में
Tell me something about your city. अपने शहर के बारे में कुछ बताओ।
Tell about your success. अपनी सफलता के बारे में बताओ।
I know everything about him. मैं उसके बारे में सब कुछ जानता हूं ।
Tell me something else about India. मुझे इंडिया के बारे में कुछ और बताओ।
Sangeeta dropped the pen about the table. संगीता ने टेबल के आस पास पेन गिरा दिया।
Above - ऊपर
The sky is above our head. आकाश हमारे सिर के ऊपर है।
The airplane is flying above the clouds. हवाई जहाज बादलों से ऊपर उड़ रहा है।
Sonam lives in the room above us. सोनम हमारे कमरे के ऊपर में रहती है।

Across- के पार (किसी चीज़ के पार)
Can you swim across the river? क्या तुम नदी तैर कर पार कर सकते हो ?
There was a man standing across the road. एक आदमी सड़क के पार खड़ा था।
My shop is across the road. मेरी दुकान सड़क के उस पार है।
The birds were flying high above the trees. पक्षी वृक्ष के उपर उड़ रहे है !
After - के बाद
I will meet you after 8. मैं तुमसे 8 बजे के बाद मिलूँगा ।
He reached after them. वह उनके बाद पहुँचा।
Police is chasing after thief. पुलिस चोर के पीछे पड़ गई।
He was unnecessarily after that girl. मैं मदद पाने के लिए अपने प्रोफेसर के पीछे पड़ गया था।
My mother has denied thrice but I am still after him. मेरी मम्मी ने तीन बार मना कर दिया है पर मैं अभी भी उनके पीछे पड़ा हुआ हूँ ।
Against-- विरुद्ध
Why is Ram against you? राम तुम्हारे विरुद्ध क्यों है?
He is against you. वह तुम्हारे विरुद्ध है !
Mohan talks against Amit? मोहन अमित के खिलाफ बोलता है!
Gaurav is against Amit? गौरव अमित के खिलाफ है !
